Turtle Breeze Renovations

After a long break from the vacation villa market, Turtle Breeze is back in spectacular form.

Just months after we bought Turtle Breeze in late 2019, the travel world came to a stop. We refunded every pending reservation in full and, just like that, Turtle Breeze had no guests booked at all.

We were the first people to arrive back in the country under the TCI Assured program — on July 22, 2020, thirty minutes before the American Airlines flight landed — and we decided to use the lull to plan a major renovation.

After many months of searching for someone to do the work, we engaged Kvanar Construction. We are very happy we found Chris and Kvanar: they did a great job, and they continue to manage the property today.

Returning guests will notice some very big changes. The most striking is the view. Gone are the twelve-foot bushes that blocked the ocean; in their place is an entirely new, open, private backyard, with hammocks, a fire pit and newly planted coconut palms.

Overlooking the new backyard — kept private by the natural dune — and the ocean is an entirely new master suite. We made it much larger and added huge glass sliding doors facing the beach, a balcony, a walk-in closet and a completely new bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers.

We flattened the roof above the master suite and added a rooftop terrace with dining for up to sixteen people and a bar. The views are simply stunning: you can see for miles, all the way to the far side of Grace Bay and beyond. The rooftop bar includes a 48-inch barbecue and a pizza oven — pizza is made only with the help of our butler, which makes it all the more enjoyable.

Beyond the new backyard, or “beachyard,” the entire grounds now have beautiful tropical gardens. The landscape renovation was led by Catherine of Turquoise Landscaping, and she did a magnificent job: Turtle Breeze now feels like a private tropical resort.

Every room received a complete refresh, and we added a pool heater and air conditioning in the living room and kitchen, so every living area is now air-conditioned.

All three pools were completely resurfaced in a gorgeous medium blue that heightens the tropical feeling everywhere you turn.
